Since childhood, I have been a curious person with an appetite to change or improve ways of doing things, because why not make a process better if you can? Analyzing different aspects of a problem to find a better solution allowed me to keep an open mind and think outside of the box to enable creative ways of solving inefficiencies. My parents being in Public Relations and lifelong entrepreneurs also spur creative thinking. I believe this is what lead me to corporate innovation later in life.
I’ve had a festive career working with international tech companies, government entities, international conferences, and venture firms on technology events and innovation.
Engaging with global thought-leaders like Mark Cuban of Mark Cuban Companies, Trammell S. Crow philanthropist and billionaire, founder of EARTHx, Doug Parker CEO of American Airlines, Mayor Mike Rawlings of Dallas, Zack Hicks of Toyota Connected & CIO Toyota Motors, and many more have been a memorable highlight. These influential individuals change the world on a daily basis and that’s what I plan to do for the security world.
Every company has a different need, another problem, and seeks advice and inspiration to solve it in a creative and manageable way. I’ve hosted some pretty badass technology events to test varying technologies for the Department of Defense National Technology Accelerator, EARTHx, Toyota Connected, T-Mobile, New York Life Ventures, and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI).
Dabbling in different technologies has provided an interesting outlook on life — technology can solve important problems, but be intimidating on the security side. ‘Things’ are so hackable. No one is safe with Digital Transformation efforts even with a layered security approach.
My past ventures were in the digital security & surveillance space.
Signal Aware, an IoT location-based analytics company, tracking hundreds of thousands of people and assets in physical spaces like universities and conference centers in the United States. We provided dashboard analytics, predictive maintenance, and tracking of specific individuals for security purposes using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
Inteligus Solutions, a software-based development firm focused on custom-built OEM solutions in the digital security & surveillance space. We’ve built patented security solutions for one of the largest HPE & Dell EMC original equipment manufacturers (OEM) in the U.S. They have over 50,000+ systems recording video surveillance in 52 countries worldwide in airports, multi-government embassies, correctional facilities, universities, hospitals, casinos, stadiums, cruise lines, and retail chains.
Those past ventures and experiences lead me to start NOVAM and to be part of an extraordinarily talented team.
So, why NOVAM?
We’ve seen some crazy things happen in the digital security and surveillance space in the past few years. An intruder accesses a system, creates damage or downloads restricted files, deletes their tracks in the system and the detection platforms records.
The age old question, if a tree falls and no one is around the hear it, did it make a noise?
I think of it in the same way but related to security — if you’re hacked but a hacker covers their tracks and exits the system, were you hacked? Technically, yes. But, can you prove it to your internal operations, external channel partners, or the government?
Just as corporate innovation should be — let’s think outside the box for a second. Current cybersecurity isn’t as efficient or practical as we’d like it to be.
Automation in cybersecurity is the future for helping businesses be more efficient and allowing them to focus on critical aspects of their business without sacrificing precious man-hours investigating security threats and manually mitigating enterprise systems.
